Participants learn specific workplace health and safety prevention and regulations. Organizations gain more qualified employees who can lead in workplace preparedness and safety.

The Workplace Fire Safety Micro credential focuses on preparing students to manage fire safety at the workplace.

Rationale

The Workplace Fire Safety Micro credential offers education that prepares professionals to manage workplace fire safety. This badge provides an opportunity for students to expand their knowledge and skills in an area that is highly applicable and widely relevant to all industries. This badge will equip students with the knowledge and ability to manage fire safety in their own specific workplace. By doing so community health and safety will improve. This badge also allows non-traditional safety students to become more engaging in the realm of safety by exploring the concepts in workplace fire safety.

Course Content

The course content will include:

  1. Safety compliance and regulation
  2. Risk assessment and hazard prevention
  3. Improving fire safety & disaster preparedness
  4. Integrating safety into the culture of the workplace.

Course Objectives:

Upon completion, students will be able to:

  1. Develop and implement robust safety programs
  2. Create effective emergency response plans
  3. Identify and control workplace hazards.

The assessments of these learning outcomes will come throughout the course varying in the form of case study reports, module quizzes, and examinations. The badge will be giving if the student earns a "C" or above 70% total point score at completion of the course.

Course Credit Hours

The time it takes to obain a badge is 8 weeks.

The instructor of record will be responsible for these assessments and awarding of the badge.
