Upon graduation from WVU Mark began his career as a project engineer with 3M Company, implementing process improvement and lean manufacturing in plants across the country. While working on his MBA, he began Workplace Advantage, Inc., a consulting firm focusing on process improvement, strategic planning, and workforce development in both the private and public sectors. That work led him to Bluegrass Community and Technical college where he served as a Vice President and led extended campuses, strategic planning, human resource development, workforce development, and the BCTC Foundation until his retirement in 2025.

He has served as a director on the boards of Commerce Lexington, the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce, and Scott County United. Chairing the National Coalition of Advanced Technology Centers and the Business and Education Network he also served as a director of Opportunity for Work and Learning and the Bluegrass Workforce Investment Board. A former regional executive of the Central Kentucky Region of the Sports Car Club of America, Mark enjoys all levels of sports car and formula car racing.

Mark's educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from West Virginia University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Kentucky. He is a registered professional engineer in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
