Dr. Baker retired in late 2020 after two years as the Senior Vice President of Operations (engineering design, installation/construction and field service) at Sunrun, Inc., the largest residential solar installer in the U.S., where he implemented process changes that substantially improved productivity, reduced sales-to-installation cycle time by 50% and cut technician attrition in half. Before that, he spent more than eight years as Senior Vice President of Field Services for DIRECTV/AT&T. In that role, he oversaw the DIRECTV’s national network of in-home and commercial installation and service providers for DIRECTV, where he made major improvements in safety, operations and customer experience. Previously, Baker served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for On Command Corporation and as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer for DIRECTV Japan. Dr. Baker holds a Ph.D. in Mineral Economics with a specialization in Operations Research from the Colorado School of Mines, as well as Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees in Industrial Engineering from West Virginia University. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of Tusculum University in Greeneville, Tennessee and serves as Treasurer and a member of the Board of Directors of Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Honor Society.
